You are the expert on your own mind. My job is to listen, then help.

I'm Oscar Ramos, board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 30 years of healthcare experience, including a decade focused on mental health. Before opening Alma Vive Psychiatry, I worked in emergency medicine, forensic nursing, and as a psychiatric provider in inpatient and outpatient settings.

My approach is built on the Recovery Model. When we review your mental health history, you are the expert on what has worked, what has not, and what you can live with. If what you're going through right now is new, your past experiences with other medical or mental health issues are still valuable. We use them to build a plan of care that helps you get your life back.

"Your diagnosis does not define you. You deserve valuable, respectful, and competent mental health care, without judgment."

Mission & Vision

Our Mission

To deliver compassionate, comprehensive psychiatric care rooted in the Recovery Model. We partner with each person as the expert on their own mind and body, combining medication management, psychotherapy, and lifestyle counseling into a plan that fits their life, not a template.

Our Vision

Mental health care without judgment, language barriers, or rigid templates. Every adult, English-speaking or Spanish-speaking, deserves to be treated as a whole person and supported in taking an active role in their own recovery.

01

Respect

Your preferences, needs, and values are central to the plan, not optional add-ons.

02

Partnership

You take an active role. I bring clinical knowledge. We build the plan together.

03

Whole-person care

Medication, therapy, sleep, nutrition, and lifestyle, treated as one connected system.

04

No judgment

Competent care for who you are, what you've lived through, and where you're going.

Integrative psychiatry, grounded in evidence.

Medication is one tool. Therapy, sleep, nutrition, movement, stress, and relationships are others. I bring them together into a plan that supports your overall well-being.

Whole-person care

Symptoms rarely live in isolation. We look at the full picture, including the parts of your life that medication alone cannot fix.

Medication management

Thoughtful prescribing, clear conversations about benefits and side effects, and honest dialogue about what is and is not working for you.

Psychotherapy

Person-centered, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused brief therapy woven into your visits when it helps.

Lifestyle counseling

Targeted recommendations on sleep, nutrition, movement, and stress, used alongside conventional treatment when it makes sense.

Bilingual care

Full visits in English or Spanish. Atención psiquiátrica en español, sin barreras de idioma para usted o su familia.

Evenings & weekends

Appointments scheduled around work, school, and caregiving. See the hours section for current availability.

Notes on mental health, in plain language.

I write weekly on the topics that come up most in my practice: sleep, anxiety, medication, the recovery process, and integrative care. Every post is available in English and Spanish.

Care that fits around your life.

Most people who need a psychiatrist also have a job, a family, school, or all three. Taking time off to get help shouldn't be one more obstacle. That's why Alma Vive runs visits in the evenings and on weekends.

Whether you work shifts, can't step away from your desk during the day, or care for kids or aging parents, you should be able to see a clinician without rearranging your entire week. Telehealth makes it possible to meet from home, in a place where you actually feel safe enough to talk.
